Umi Mail Club is a slow, analog experience that arrives in your physical mailbox each month. It’s a screen-free ritual of reading, writing, and creativity — an invitation to slow down, step away from the noise, and reconnect with stories, papers, textures, your inner world, and the world around you.
Each letter is written, curated, printed, and carefully packed by me, Aniko, from my studio in Amsterdam. After 20 years of writing and creating content for the internet, I decided to go back offline with this mail club: real letters you can hold in your hands, open slowly and enjoy at your own pace, with all your senses — free from algorithms, distractions, or advertising. I created this mail club originally in Spanish (my native language), but have decided to translate it to English as well (I'm bilingual).

If you sign up to my mail club, each month you will receive (in English):
- A small letter written on beautifully illustrated paper
- An original story written by me (it could be a short story, a poem, a reflection), inspired by the theme of the year*, to read while enjoying some tea or coffee
- Two creative prompts, which you can glue directly into your journal, to inspire you to write and to notice what surrounds you
- An extra goodie —a sticker, postcard, collage, or photograph— to collect or display wherever you like
- Everything is carefully hand-wrapped in tissue paper, and decorated with stickers and stamps from my personal collection
Every element that comes in the envelope is meant to be reused, so feel free to cut, paste, and decorate your notebooks, because these letters are made for journaling.
Each year I explore a theme slowly and thoughtfully through stories and prompts. In 2026, the theme is the sea — as a place, a metaphor, an emotion, a memory, a creative territory. In a literal or fictional way, with a serious or playful tone.
“Umi” means “sea” in Japanese, and each envelope of this mail club is just that: a deep ocean of stories, images, and possibilities to dive in when you need a moment of pause and quiet and long for some analog time.
Shipping and practical details
- I ship worldwide from Amsterdam via regular snail mail (which means no tracking, but that's part of the magic). Shipping cost is included in the price.
- If you subscribe before the 20th of the month, you’ll receive that month’s letter. If you subscribe after the 20th, you’ll receive the following month’s. (For example: if you subscribe on March 12, you’ll receive the March letter; if you subscribe on March 21, you’ll receive the April letter.)
- Letters are sent from Amsterdam during the last week of each month. You’ll receive an email notification when your letter is on its way.
- Estimated delivery: 1 to 6 weeks, depending on the country.
- If 6 weeks have passed since your shipping notification and your letter hasn’t arrived, please send me a message.
- You can pause, cancel, or update your address or payment method at any time via your customer portal.
The Golden Envelope
Each month, I randomly include —in 1 out of every 100 envelopes— a small golden envelope with a few extra surprises. Will you get it? :)
About Aniko Villalba, the creator of Umi Mail Club
My name is Aniko, I’m originally from Argentina but have been living abroad for almost 20 years, first as a solo traveler and now as a resident of Amsterdam. I’m a writer of books and creator of products and projects around creativity, journaling and traveling. I have published two travel memoirs, six guided-journals, one oracle, and a fiction book for children, all in Spanish. I teach writing workshops (some are available in English via Domestika) and I organise stationery and journaling trips to Japan and creative experiences in other destinations through StationeryTrip.
In Umi Mail Club, everything from my personal and professional journey comes together. It’s an intimate space where I share my inner worlds — the way I look at things, write, and create — on paper. A place where I tell my stories so that you can write yours too.
